Created as a steady, portable platform for all kinds of refractor OTA's with apertures ranging up to 4", Tele Vue's Gibraltar HD4 Alt-AZ Mount was designed with a Tele-pod head and a beautiful, custom-designed just for this model Berlebach ash wood tripod. Not only is this tripod made with large bearing surfaces and strong, thick legs able to easily handle heavy loads with minimal vibration, but its reserved design is truly functional above anything else. The legs can raise the altitude axis within a range of 3.5 to 5 feet, and the markings on the legs make it easy to repeatably set your preferred heights in place. In another quality design feature, there is a wooden accessory tray tying the legs together to stabilize the entire setup, adding a firm rigidity to the mount when fully setup. The built-in pier takes this design further; not only adding extra height to the mount to provide a more comfortable viewing position for the user, but also allowing whatever OTA you have mounted to be aimed at or near the zenith without any risk of hitting the tripod. Finally, there is a bubble level integrated into the tripod base- in conjunction with the rubber-tipped metal ground spikes, these features grant an added level of stability when mounted on soft ground.
